Josh Ritter "So Runs The World Away"

review: Brilliant! This is an excellent album. It took me a few listens to (broken hardships) really begin to appreciate the amazing bit of work that (murder ballad’s) Josh put forth on his 6th studio record. (bittersweet) I actually believe that this record is slightly better than Historical Conquests, (high-water mark) as his ability to paint a (new folk standards) picture to sound has moved him (passionate) closer toward the level of "folk legend."

Circa Survive "Blue Sky Noise"

review: This is represents a further move (modern rock) towards the middle 4 Circa Survive. Similar to On Letting Go,(2007 album) the group has traded some of their dark urgency for better production (grammy-winning producer)and more accessibility. With the exception of "Glass Arrows", (confrontational) their sound is much less interesting and immediate. (emo-punk,feeling blue) In Aviate does a better Circa Survive than Circa Survive now.

Rick Astley "Whenever You Need Somebody"

review: A smooth pop-soul singer with a (England's dance music) deep baritone voice uncommon 4 a (then)-21 year old white guy from UK, (vintage 80s) Rick Astley burst upon the music scene like fire in (producers/songwriters) the winter of 87 with the huge hits "Never Gonna Give You Up" and (soul/pop/dance music) "Together Forever." Both of these are prime examples of the (Romantic Evening) sweet, catchy pop that is the trademark of the Stock-Aitken-Waterman (Fondness) team, along the only slightly less sizable hit (party-celebratory) "It Would Take A Strong Strong Man".

Roky Erickson and Okkervil River "True Love Cast Out All Evil"

review: I just love the musical production (70-minute album) on this project. The ingenuity, the creativity, the style, the grace, (introduced in the 07 EP) and most notably Janelle's sweet voice. She blends so many styles to (story of CindiMayweather) create a unique concoction comparable to a magical potion that puts (passionate) the listener under her spell. I am absolutely captivated. And when the Stones harmonise (instrumental duties) against a background of faraway guitar and strings, (nocturnal-sounding) the combined voices make tracks such as "Black Crow" feel magical. review: CrystalC. tend to take everything (creative side) they want in their debut release. Every genre or styles or kind of sound they wanna do (Atari sound chips), and ultimately, your attention. And those two are what's best about this group; (vintage-game soundtracks) they take familiar elements and sounds and turn them into something you've (cooing and guitars) probably never heard before. This is especially true for some of the more aggressive songs, which this group is most noticed for. Alice Glass' distorted voices (familiar-sounding) and Ethan Kath's indielectronics can be as wild and unpredictable as any punk band I've ever seen.

Plan B "The Defamation Of Strickland Banks"

review: This is concept album, with each song telling different (70s socio-political) parts of the tail of some Strickland Banks (hard-rap style) character who gets locked up 4 a crime he didn't commit. Drew sings in a throaty falsetto, (soul-music) sort of a cross between Terence Trent D'Arby and Smokey Robinson. the Apples In Stereo - Travellers In Space And Time

review: The most notable influence on Travellers (Schneider's wispy vocals) has to be 70s-era disco music, which shows up on tracks like "Hey Elevator," "No One in the World" (catchier pop song) or "Dance Floor." The former is a dance-along, sing-along pop (disco strings) masterpiece in and of itself, and the album's greatest asset. Of course, (wacky synths) The Apples are no strangers to singable pop tracks, but it's rare that one has been this (party time) instantly-enjoyable and able to hold its own after several repeat listens. (vintage Apples) "Dance Floor," doesn't have as strong of a melody, (beats into their trademark) but it too pulls off the band's new dance sound flawlessly.80/100
