the National "High Violet"

review: I'm enjoying this record though not as good as I hoped. (introspection) Alligator is still my favourite from them but I'm going (autumn modes) to give this some time as I wasn't overly impressed by Boxer (2007 album) when it came out but love it now.

the Apples In Stereo - Travellers In Space And Time

review: The most notable influence on Travellers (Schneider's wispy vocals) has to be 70s-era disco music, which shows up on tracks like "Hey Elevator," "No One in the World" (catchier pop song) or "Dance Floor." The former is a dance-along, sing-along pop (disco strings) masterpiece in and of itself, and the album's greatest asset. Of course, (wacky synths) The Apples are no strangers to singable pop tracks, but it's rare that one has been this (party time) instantly-enjoyable and able to hold its own after several repeat listens. (vintage Apples) "Dance Floor," doesn't have as strong of a melody, (beats into their trademark) but it too pulls off the band's new dance sound flawlessly.80/100
