Prince Discography

- For You (1978)
For You is Prince's debut album. Released on April 7, 1978 and bearing the soon-to-be classic tag "Produced, arranged, composed, and performed by Prince," the album is generally regarded as a promising but somewhat insubstantial early effort. The album peaked at #163 on the US Pop Charts (#21 R&B), and would go on to sell 430,000 copies domestically (983,000 copies worldwide).

- Prince (1979)
- Dirty Mind (1980)
- Controversy (1981)

- 1999 (1982)
According to the Rolling Stone Album Guide, "1999 may be Prince's most influential album: Its synth-and-drum machine-heavy arrangements codified the Minneapolis sound that loomed over mid-'80s R&B and pop, not to mention the next two decades' worth of electro, house, and techno."

- Purple Rain (1984)
Purple Rain is the sixth album by Prince and The Revolution, the soundtrack album to the 1984 film Purple Rain.
Purple Rain is regularly ranked among the best albums in rock music history.

- Around the World in a Day (1985)
- Parade (1986)

- Sign o' the Times (1987)
The album yielded three top-ten hits, the most from Prince since Purple Rain in 1984. Though its sales were modest, somewhat akin to those of Parade, Sign “O” the Times was almost universally applauded by critics and has been cited as his greatest work.
- Lovesexy (1988)
- Batman (1989)
- Graffiti Bridge (1990)
- Diamonds and Pearls (1991)

- Love Symbol Album (1992)
The album's first two singles, "My Name Is Prince" and "Sexy MF", were only minor hits on the US pop charts, though both made top ten in the UK. Conversely, the third single, "7", was relatively unsuccessful in the UK, but was a top ten hit in the US.
- Come (1994)
- The Black Album (1994)
- The Gold Experience (1995)
The Gold Experience produced three singles, each with an accompanying music video: "I Hate U", "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World", and "Gold". Additionally, a video for "Dolphin" was released prior to the release of the album. "P Control" was also intended to be released as a single, but was canceled because it did not receive enough airplay. It was, however, performed at the 1995 VH1 Fashion Rocks Awards.
