Brett Anderson - Wilderness 2008 album

9.5/10 - Great record, emotional songs, some very moving, spiritual and poetic lyrics, coupled with Brett's beautiful voice.

Jarvis Cocker - Further Complications Review and more

review: Great follow up to his self titled superb debut solo record. "Further Complications" is a far rockier and rawer effort. Its spikier, more emotional, more consistent and generally better than "Jarvis". As a whole album this is as good as anything Pulp ever did although "Further Complications" doesn't have the classic singles that Pulp were capable of knocking out at will. Despite the lack of traditional pop singles, it is full of melodies and Cocker's signature oh so clever lyrical style. "Slush", Leftovers", "I Never Said I Was Deep" and "Caucasian Blues" are the stand out tracks.

Martin Rossiter - Defenestration of St Martin Review (Britpop)

Martin Rossiter, former front man for 90's Britpop group, Gene, has just released his first solo album since Gene's breakup in 2004. Martin has not been entirely out of the music scene in these last eight years, but this certainly is the strongest sign that he is back and in full form. "The Defenestration of St. Martin" is, at least in this listener's ear, a total triumph, an instant classic, and a record that fans will be able to turn to again and again over the years without ever growing tired.

Martin returns to his intensely introspective lyrical style that is positively gripping, heart wrenching, and racked with pain.

Keane "Night Train"

review: I hear a lot less of that mess in this record. (in ft. K'Naan) It's more what I was expecting Keane to evolve into, with (guest Tigarah) a little hip-hop added in. Obviously these guys are into that sort of thing, and they (Tim Rice lead vocals) do a reasonable job of it without ruining their work with it.

the Seahorses "Do It Yourself"

review: This record has all the characteristics of a excellent album. (classicist Britpop) Its well co-ordinated catchy "choons" really bring the record to life. (squire sounds) Although Mr. squire is not quite up to scratch (b. trad rock) i believe that this bring out the character in the band. My opinion "well worth a listen".
