sadly these are fleeting moments, and there are also plenty of dodgy, somewhat peculiar miss steps. Some tracks just feel rushed and incomplete. I really don't understand why bands have to shoehorn weird politically charged spoken bits into their songs to get a message across. Surely the message is more powerful when it feels like a natural piece of the music.
Sadly they don't. My favourite tracks are probably Champion of the World, Everyday Life, Orphans and Arabesque; the opening instrumental is an honorable mention. This is when the band finally enters their stride. If only there had been more tracks like this and less of the bizarre gospel-infused god-chanting numbers in the middle. If you have already heard the singes, I would say that is about as good as Everyday Life gets. Definitely worth a listen but not one you are going to have on repeat for too long. Certainly not my favourite in their catalogue but also not their worst. 60/100
