A Classic Album back in Issue 16, Crash is, as we said at the time, a landmark and an anomaly, an album that the band often disown and that led to two founder members fleeing in horror, but which spawned a US No. 1 single and marked the transition of technopop into the mainstream. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced, as they did for Janet Jackson and Control; a companion piece of sorts to that, Crash might have been better titled Control Freaks.
